Determining DBH (Diameter at Breast Height)

How much product do I need?

Most tree care products list dosages based on the DBH (diameter at breast height) of your tree. Here’s how to determine DBH for your tree:

Measure your tree. At 4-1/2 feet above the ground, wrap a measuring tape around the trunk of the tree. Divide the measurement by 3.14 to get the diameter, also known as DBH (diameter at breast height).

Determining DBH for trees with multiple stems. If you have a tree with multiple stems, measure the diameter of the tree at the narrowest point between the root flare and split of the stems.
